My field of research is the medieval literature of Scandinavia.
In my earliest work, I dealt mainly with the narrative processing of one’s own story in the sagas.
Then, under the influence of New Philology, I turned more to the question of how the claimed mouvance is reflected in the text material we received.
At the same time I worked on Old Norse translations of Latin, in the broadest sense historiographical, templates. While at the beginning I focused mainly on translation theory aspects, my interest increasingly shifted to the fundamental relationship between the vernacular and Latin in medieval Scandinavia.
I am currently working on the ‘literary system’ in the Scandinavian countries in the Middle Ages. The theoretical basis for this is provided by the ‘polysystem theory’ by Itamar Even-Zohar.
